Monday is String Day at MitCon!

Bathurst Chamber Orchestra

Mondays 6.45 to 8.45pm

The BCO boasts a proud tradition of more than four decades of providing high quality chamber and orchestral music for Bathurst and the region. The ensemble comprises MitCon string staff, local advanced amateur players and is also augmented by our advanced students. If you are a string player of at least 5th Grade AMEB level and want to play in a vibrant and friendly ensemble which rehearses and performs the standard classical repertoire to a high level, please join us!

Bella Forte - Advanced Youth Strings

Mondays 6.15 to 7.15pm

This ensemble comprises our most advanced young string players, primarily in high school, but also some players who’ve finished school and just can’t leave! This is a lively and friendly group which plays classical works, popular arrangements and also high-level repertoire, especially when combining with the BCO, as the two groups’ rehearsals overlap. 4th Grade AMEB minimum is recommended.

Stringendo - Adult String Ensemble

Mondays 5.15 to 6pm

This ensemble comprises adult early learners and those players re-starting later in life. They enjoy developing their individual and ensemble skills as well as the camaraderie of other like-minded ensemble members. They rehearse and perform a wide range of styles and enjoy performing in community events each year. A sociable and dedicated group who always welcome new members!

Fiddlesticks - Junior Youth Strings

Mondays 4 to 4.45pm

Our youngest players comprise this dynamic and playful ensemble. Most members are in primary school, but there are some older players who want to extend their stay and also younger players who are advanced for their age. To join, at least a year of private instruction is recommended. This group provides a firm musical foundation in rhythm, pitch and ensemble playing, and also rehearses and performs a wide range of styles.

Mitchell Conservatorium Ukulele Group

Tuesday 2.30 – 3.15pm, 130 Havannah Street, Bathurst

Conservatorium Concert Band

Wednesdays 6 to 7pm, 130 Havannah St Bathurst

Our wonderful Symphonic Winds Ensemble has a new name and a new Director, with former conductor Bethany Carter-Sherlock moving on to pursue other exciting personal and musical goals. David Hood is the new conductor and is excited to be taking over the role. The ensemble has a new name – the Conservatorium Concert Band – but will continue to rehearse and play great music. Advanced beginners and intermediate players welcome.

Mitchell Young Voices (MYV)

For singers aged 8 to 15 years
Thursdays 5 to 6pm, 130 Havannah St Bathurst

The Mitchell Young Voices is the Conservatorium’s youth choir for singers aged between 8 and 15 years. The choir has performed with Opera Australia and Patch Theatre Company, at the Sydney Opera House, and as part of nationally televised broadcasts. The group is also a frequent performer at community events and Eisteddfods. The group welcomes all young singers looking to advance their choral skills and to have fun performing with other singers.

VOX Chamber Choir

For singers aged 15 years or over
Thursdays 6 to 7pm, 130 Havannah St Bathurst
Director: Michelle Griffin

VOX is the Conservatorium’s  senior choir for singers aged 15 years or over. The choir performs a wide range of repertoire including opera, contemporary art song and musical theatre. The group also performs at a range of community events and Eisteddfods. VOX welcomes anyone seeking to have fun learning new music and singing with others.
